Athena is a native of Los Angeles where she began her dance training at the age of three with master teachers including Kathryn Charisse Etienne, Daisy Krassner, Roy Fitzell, Jillana, Eugene Loring, Sallie Whalen, and Brad Powell. She is trained in several dance genres and specializes in teaching ballet and theatre dance. A member of SAG and AFTRA from age five, Athena appeared in numerous commercials and TV shows such as All in the Family, The Debbie Reynolds Show, The Red Skelton Show, and The Walt Disney Special. In addition to TV work, Athena’s performing credits include plays, musicals, variety shows, operas, ballets, industrials, and voice-overs. Her association with The Young Americans after college gave Athena the opportunity to hone her skills as a performer while touring internationally. She is passionate about education, having earned a Master of Education degree from Regis University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California-Irvine. She holds a Colorado professional teaching license with a drama and dance endorsement and is a certified teacher of the Dance Educators of America. She is an American Ballet Theatre (ABT) Certified Teacher in Pre-Primary through Level 3. Athena is a long-time arts education advocate serving on regional non-profit boards. She is a sought-after musical theatre choreographer and dance teacher in Colorado Springs, where she has lived for many years. Athena’s personal passion is encouraging artistic growth and infusing beauty into the world.
